Join us as we welcome Mike Casey to talk about Russia, Ukraine, and sanctions and examine the political and commercial implications of the west’s economic response to Russia’s invasion.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the West responded in a coordinated, unified manner by imposing an unprecedented series of new sanctions on Russian individuals, financial institutions, and companies.  In this presentation, Mike will provide an overview of the new sanctions and explain how they impact U.S. and European companies and asset managers.  In addition, he will describe how the new Russian sanctions—and Russia’s countermeasures to these sanctions—compare to recent foreign policy trends.

Mike Casey is a dual-qualified partner in the London office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on investigations and regulatory compliance matters related to economic sanctions, export controls, money laundering, corruption, and white-collar fraud. In addition, he regularly acts as a specialist in M&A and other types of transactions.  He also frequently advises clients on the UK National Security and Investment Act and other national security review regimes.
